Earn less but be happy

We all want to earn as much as we can with the least amount of hassle, but lets face it there are few jobs or opporunities that allows us to earn big with little effort.

However, have you ever stopped to think about the fact that the effort you put in to earn a lot of money could not be worth it. Long hours, stress, travelling and lots of time away from home could be some of the reasons as to why that role you work so hard in might not be for you.

Consider looking at a job that pays less but offers you the satisfaction that you require.

It is not for everyone, but it has to be said that many have quit their high flying, high power roles to take a step back and do something they enjoy more.

They may earn less money each year but what they gain is priceless. More time with family, less stress, a better way of life that does not compare to the previous one.

We all want success and money, but sometimes more success comes from doing something we love rather than something we don`t for more money.

Buying and selling–it’s all about the right place at the right time

Having for the last 6 months had 3 cars outside our house it was about time to make a conscious effort to get rid of the 3rd to leave us with the 2 we needed.

We had the car up for a very fair price in comparison to the others available but were getting little interest.

We drop the price by a considerable amount and naturally the interest increased massively.

We sold it, but less than what we would have liked and as it turns out, more than the purchaser would have been willing to pay.

But this situation applies to all companies whatever product they are selling.  It is all about the right place at the right time.

During my time at Clove we have had occasions where we have had too much stock or not enough and you either end up selling the stuff cheap to move it or selling it cheaper than you could have because you didn’t expect demand to be as high as it was.

There is always that thought of ‘what if’, but it is no good thinking like that.  Its just the way it is.  Most would refer to it as ‘sods law’ that someone really wants and is willing to buy something at a higher price than you have just moved your stock on at. It is a frustration that will never go away in business.

Amazon–Their own success now disappoints me

I have bought countless items off of Amazon and keep going back.

The consumer part of me loves their model, as does the business part of me for the exception of how they can so easily put others out of business, but that is another story!!

I recently ordered two items off of Amazon and chose the ‘Free Super Saver Delivery’ which takes 3-5 days.  I was not in any rush for the items, but for the first time I was disappointed with this service.

Samsung Galaxy S III–Packaging not inspired by nature

imageCall me picky but Samsung have fallen short with the out of box experience with the Samsung Galaxy S III.

I watched an unboxing video of the Galaxy S III (click here to see the video) and if this is the final retail packaging it just looks a bit boring and old.

Yes it does the job, yes it keeps the design theme from the Galaxy S II.
